Personally, I think the author omits too much information that would give a fuller appreciation and comprehension of IP addressing. I can understand choosing not to determine IP addresses via the binary method, but some of the things the author does are quicker if you have a strong understanding of the binary relationships in IP addressing. The author takes the multiple addition route of a subnet's base number to determine the subnetwork address. My belief is that if you have a strong understanding of binary relationships, you won't have to whip out a calculator to add up subnet base numbers, i.e. it will come naturally (27 = 128, 26 = 64, etc.).

Computer Knowledge & Resources Document - 1999

bullet

Created at the time to give people resources to learn from on their own.

bullet

With all the questions I used to field from PC novices, this document became an efficient educational resource.

While in DeVry's A+ Certification Prep-Course "COMP128 PC Systems & Networks",   I received an 82% score on a 100 question preliminary PC knowledge test. It was a gauge as to whether a student needed to take the course. Along with receiving the highest score in the class, this document helped me test out of the course.  Because of my previous computer research and experience, I also received Credit by Evaluation for Glendale Community College's A+ Certification Prep-Course "BPC170 - Computer Maintenance I: A+ Prep".

“How to Buy a Computer, or Upgrade What You Have - 1996” (69 KB)

bullet

Checklist of things to know and do when buying a computer that I created because no such list was included at the end of the book for easy reference.

bullet

Also created to give people buying tips to consider before buying a computer

bullet

Back in 1996, when I was researching information for my first computer system, I met other computer shoppers that didn’t know much about computers. To add to their problem, I would overhear sales people telling computer shoppers misleading or incorrect information. So, I created this document and kept a few in my car glove compartment to give to novice computer buyers as I met them.
